The holistic support includes the five dimensions of management, ecology, regional anchoring, social balance, finances and performance. A catalog of measures as well as supported calculations and analyses are used to identify practical opportunities for improvement.

Quality of management

Sustainability must be consciously anchored in management. Internal structures and processes are adapted accordingly: Employee management, internal organization, controlling, guest orientation, innovation.

Ecology - careful use of resources

The careful use of resources is important to us. That's why we pay attention to environmental compatibility and potential savings when it comes to energy, water, waste, purchasing, furnishings and surroundings.

Regionality - regional roots and authenticity

Our offer is authentic and has a close connection to the region and its people, culture and landscape. The added value should remain in the region wherever possible and strengthen it. In this way, we create jobs, reduce transport routes and inspire enthusiasm for regional specialties and characteristics.

Social - maintaining the social balance

Guests and employees should feel comfortable. We make sure that the general conditions are right for everyone: Consideration of guests' wishes, fair and supportive working conditions for employees, involvement of suppliers, harmony with the local population, accessibility.

Finances and performance

Only an economically sound business can operate sustainably and secure jobs. That is why we pay close attention to earnings, performance, cost control, investments, risk management and guest and employee satisfaction.

Eine Vielzahl von Hotels, Hostels, Camping und Ferienwohnungen sowie Gastronomiebetrieben, verteilt über die ganze Schweiz, tragen bereits stolz das ibex fairstay-Label. Sie wurden von akkreditierten Auditoren geprüft und vom unabhängigen Zertifizierungskomitee bewertet. Je nach Nachhaltigkeitsleistung werden die Betriebe mit ibex fairstay bronze, silver, gold oder platinum ausgezeichnet. Mehr dazu unter ausgezeichnete Betriebe. Eine kombinierten Zertifizierung mit dem internationalen TourCert-Label ist möglich.

The questionnaire for the sustainability assessment was developed by Arthur Braunschweig and Domenico Saladino between 2002 and 2017 and has been continuously developed by ibex fairstay since then.
