Martina Hollenstein takes over ad interim management of ibex fairstay

Martina Hollenstein is taking over the management of the ibex fairstay sustainability label ad interim with immediate effect. The tourism expert, who is well versed in sustainability issues, was Director of Tourismus Engadin Scuol Samnaun Val Müstair AG (TESSVM) for many years and Head of Sustainability at Graubünden Ferien from 2023 to March 2025. Since April 1, she has been a partner at Mounteco GmbH and supports tourism businesses as part of interim management.

As a long-standing employee and former managing director, Anita Gschwind remains the key account contact for companies and is responsible for the established ibex fairstay methodology and quality assurance.

ibex fairstay is parting ways with its previous Managing Director Rosa Ilmer after only a short time. The employment relationship will be terminated at the end of April 2025. The position of Managing Director will be advertised in due course.

Roland Zegg: "Building a strong team is a priority"

Following the rapid changes in management, Ibex Fairstay is relying on experience: Martina Hollenstein is taking over on an interim basis. In an interview with htr hotelrevue, President Roland Zegg talks about quality standards, new projects and the future of the sustainability label.

Roland Zegg, why did you part ways with Rosa Ilmer after such a short time?
There were very different views on performance and quality standards and on how a sustainability competence team should be managed.

What makes Martina Hollenstein particularly qualified for the interim management of Ibex Fairstay?
Her qualifications: Many years of experience in the management of mountain tourism businesses with up to 40 employees, strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge and networking in Swiss tourism, background in the hotel and catering industry, high credibility and track record in sustainable tourism development.

What are the goals?
We want to build a new, effective team and its leadership. This also includes coordinating the Marketing/Communications department, continuing key projects and relieving Anita Gschwind's workload.

How will the change in management affect ongoing projects, particularly the new certification of restaurants?
We have already received the first applications for the second pilot phase of Ibex Fairstay Gastronomy. Thanks to Martina's relief in other areas, these businesses can start the certification process as planned and receive expert support from Anita Gschwind.

Is there already a timetable for the management tender?
We are giving ourselves time and will evaluate very carefully. There is no fixed date yet for the definitive replacement. However, the newly established team should include the Head of Communications and a competent Key Account Gastronomy Manager as soon as possible.

How does Ibex Fairstay see its future role in Swiss tourism, particularly with regard to Swisstainable and the increasing importance of ESG criteria?
We are quality leaders in sustainability issues and want to be a long-term sparring partner for member companies that want to strengthen their businesses from within and align them sustainably.
